Friday Cup of Coffee

I absolutely love a great cup of coffee… Mark and I make ours with a French press… We buy flavored coffee and add flavor creamer‘s… I add cinnamon to mine as well, Mark is not a big cinnamon fan like I am… So we have two different containers for our coffees… As well as two different French presses.

Many don’t know it but yeah man what is the “birthplace“ of coffee I actually didn’t know that until I went to Yemen. I was given some coffee as a gift when I was there, and I must say it was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had.

It isn’t only the coffee itself though, the location, countless etc. is part of a truly awesome “coffee break” experience. One of my favorite times of the day when my older kids were younger was to sit with my legs in our pool and drink my morning coffee… We live on an acreage And it was so quiet and peaceful.

It was a nice way to start my day before the stresses of kids, homeschooling work etc. started. My kids used to buy me coffee mugs for presents and to this day I cherish them and other personal mugs! There’s something comfortable about a quiet coffee time. It comes the mind and the body. As my older kids become adults they still didn’t understand why I valued my morning cup of coffee, as they now have their own morning rituals.

One of my new favorite morning rituals… Is my Sunday morning ritual, where I go and sit in the fire side café at the Woodlands United Methodist Church… And have my coffee and listen to the church service… It is a wonderfully comfortable and calming place… There is a big fireplace cozy leather chairs and couches… The coffee is wonderful and the ambience is even better. I cherish my morning coffee… Not so much because of where I have but What it means to me. Do you have a morning ritual that you really enjoy?

Do you have something that helps you face the anxieties and stresses of each day? I’d love to hear it…

History is very important. We can learn a great deal from history, but have you ever considered looking into your family history?

I learned from one of mother’s doctors that studying your family history can be very helpful in many ways! For example when you study your family tree can find out if any of your love ones have had medical issues that could be passed down & you found out that YOU could have a few medical issues similar to them & it can be prevented.
YES! These studies can help in so many ways, from preventing unhealthy habits to medical issues that you may not have known that was in your family, but others in your family knew but did NOT know or say anything. One of the biggest issues with family history is many are NOT aware of the importance of knowing or studying your family tree! Yes many may not NOT be ready or want to study their family tree or its history.
I am glad that my mother has looked into ours. We found out that many of our family members had eye problems, diabetes, anger, & depression issues. We looked into & found out that many of these issues can be treated today when then could NOT be treated in the past.
Medicine today has changed from the past due from doctors & those in medicine have learned from history & those who are willing to help us learn from the history of medicine.
So please try to learn from from your family tree, not the names & where they came from but more! It may save your or family members lives!

It’s Launch Day!

I’m sorry I’ve been so absent lately! I haven’t been putting out very many blogs… But I promise I have a very good reason.

Today Peyton and I are launching Team  Awesomism! We are super excited about this new project that we have started. It’s been months in the works… And a few delays in launching but we finally are ready! Yay!

I think one of the things I am proudest of is, when I started this blog a few years ago… My goal was not only to raise autism acceptance….. but to actually work to help turn autism into Awesomism….  I feel that Team Awesomism  is going to help further that goal.

One of the things that I love best about this project, is that is a joint project of mine and Peyton’s. I’m so proud of Peyton. He not only has helped me develop the project… But he did the website himself!

Peyton and I tossed around several ideas before we came up with the idea of Team Awesomism. We wanted to start a community to build each other up,and help each other. Our community is for those with anxiety, stress, autism, ADHD etc. etc. it’s a community designed to help others find their strengths, happy places, comfort zones etc. We are community where you are supported and accepted.

Team Awesomism is a bully Freezone… I say it all the time on social media… I’ve written blogs about it…but I wanted to  make even a stronger statement….,I’m on my last nerve with bullies!!!! Physical bullies, as well as verbal and mental bullies. We’ve become a society where if you don’t agree with someone, and /or you are “different” it’s acceptable to bully and name calling. 🤦‍♀️

This is unacceptable in every facet, but especially to those with special needs and those who suffer with stress and anxiety issues. Rather than just talk about it,because too often bullies refuse to see themselves as bullies… We decided to create a community to help others.

Team Awesomism isn’t just about being anti-bullying in fact it’s more about finding that happy place, comfort zone etc. so that you can deal with the negative things that are thrown at you!

This community is about actions, not just words. It’s about building together, helping each other, supporting each other and most of all being there for each other. We will be sharing each other’s strengths, and helping each other find their strengths and make them even stronger!

We’re all in this journey of life… At the same time, maybe not the same places… That’s the beauty of the Internet. We don’t have to be physically by each other, to be emotionally and mentally together.

I will be continuing my Awesomismmom blog, it will have some changes.. which will be coming at the end of September. Awesomismmom will be more about our journey as a family… Then just mine and Peyton’s journey!  Watch for the relaunch of AwesomismMom at the end of September!! 🎉

In the meantime please check out our new project Team Awesomism!! Take some time look around our website read our blog… And most of all please help us spread the word! Thank you so much for reading my blog and for all your support! https://teamawesomism.com/

Lavender, Anxiety and Me!!

As I discussed in a previous blog, I have GAD… General anxiety disorder. There are days that my anxiety gets the best of me. While  I’ve learned to deal with my anxiety for the most part, there are days it overwhelms me.

One of my favorite go to items that I use when I am extremely anxious, stressed or just in a serious need of a break… Is… LAVENDER! 💜  Oh my I absolutely love lavender! 💜

I love it in the essential oil‘s, bath salts, bubble bath, lavender spray actually anything lavender makes me happy! Williams and Sonoma used to have this amazing lavender laundry detergent, I couldn’t get enough of it! I was so sad when they got rid of it. It was the best thing to use on my PJs, my sheets and pillow cases.

I found a few that I really like but not as much as that! So if you know of any, I’d love to hear some suggestions! Rather than dwelling on the negative’s, let’s talk about some lavender products that I really love! 💜

I’ve fallen in love with rollers lately, and I found one that I absolutely love! There are many good ones on the market… But this one  is definitely my favorite. It’s made by open heart apothecary.  You can actually buy them through Patti and Ricky. Here is the link to their website. They have other awesome rollers, but I absolutely love the lavender. https://www.pattiandricky.com/

They also have a really wonderful spray that you can use either in the air or I use it on my pillow before I go to sleep at night, so does Peyton. It’s called calm… It has lavender and other essential oil’s. I especially love using this until I find that perfect lavender laundry soap!

My new lavender obsession I actually came upon, because my wonderful  husband gave me these as a gift! They are an amazingly awesome epsom bath salt. They are made by San Francisco salt company! You can use them in the bath, in the shower or even as a foot soak! https://www.sfsalt.com/m-home

No matter where you use them, especially the tub or as a foot soak, I would definitely leave the water for a while because the smell is heavenly 💜… it will give you such a relaxing  lavender smell throughout whatever room you’ve used it in! It’s so calming.

We have some fantastic  lavender farms here in Texas! In fact Peyton and I plan to go to a seminar in the fall at one of the lavender farms in Hill Country, to learn more about lavender. I tried to grow it several times… Had very little success.

Peyton and I put some in his garden, but we really didn’t get much out of it. We were both pretty sad. We decided we want to learn more about growing  it,before we try again.

Mark, Peyton and I went to a lavender farm a couple of years ago, I bought the most amazing lavender jelly. I’d love to learn how to grow it so I can make more products with it!

I’m always looking for new lavender products to try, recipes that use lavender, as well as suggestions of how to use lavender! So if you have a product you’d like me to try, or suggestions or even recipes I’d love to hear from you!

As always thanks for reading my blog, I’d love to hear from you and lavender on! 💜
