Our Awesomism Texas Chili

If you’re like us, you really love smoked brisket… My husband makes one of the best smoked briskets, I’ve ever had in my life. I was never really all that much into brisket, and can honestly tell you that I hadn’t had it a lot, before I moved to Texas. Now I’ve become a huge fan of it. We have a Traeger grill which is one of the best for smoking brisket… Well, actually I love our Traeger grill for everything. Unless you have a big family or you wanna freeze some of your brisket, you’re going to have brisket left over. Here is a really (awesomism) recipe that I kind of threw together myself for our version of Texas chili. I add the ground beef with the Brisket because it is what Peyton loves….

This is an easy recipe and awesome for this time of the year! it’s quick

Remember this is using leftover brisket…

Here are ingredients of making Texas Chili:

  • 1 lb smoked brisket cut into small thin  cubes
  • 1 lb ground beef … I cook this before time, so it is fully cooked and browned
  • 1 large white onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper diced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 15 oz can Ranch Style beans
  • 1 15.5 oz can Buffalo Beans
  • 1 cup grated pepper jack cheese
  • 1 24 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp  chili powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp brown mustard
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp water

Throw it all together… again make sure that the ground beef and brisket is fully cooked first! I dump everything into a crock pot and cook it on High for 2 hours and medium for 6… checking every so often and stirring… when checking.

I add 1/2 cup of the grated pepper jack cheese 1/2 way through and put the rest on top after it is done! I love sour cream and tortilla chips with mine as well. Please note that the cheese can be eliminated if you want.

As always… all disclaimers for food apply… have to put that on here! ; )

Thanks so much for reading my blog and following me and Peyton on our 45 Awesomism Days of the Holidays…

Throwback: No Place Like Home for the Holidays

This was a blog/video that Peyton made for me last year! I still really love this video. I thought we would share it again for Throwback Thursday. We will be making another video for this year! so be sure and watch for it! Hope you enjoy and make sure you have your sound up so you can hear the music!

I absolutely love my husband… To me he is the best husband on this planet. Being married to an oil guy means you have absolutely no set schedule. You live according to an “oil schedule” Which is just fine with me. I miss him when he’s gone, but our love is stronger than distance.

My husband was supposed to be home a week and a half before Thanksgiving… That didn’t work out… He got home on Thanksgiving day. We decided to have Thanksgiving with our third child, who lives close, on Sunday… We watched football and relaxed, on Thanksgiving. 🦃

I had this feeling that he wasn’t going to be able to be home when he thought he would be. I decided that I was going to decorate the whole house… Mind you we have 4100 ft.²… For Christmas, before he came home.

I usually have a rule that I don’t start putting any Christmas decorations up until Thanksgiving is over… I love Thanksgiving, it’s one of my favorite holidays and I don’t like to dismiss it, by having Christmas stuff up. This year I made an exception!

I wanted to make sure, that if my husband didn’t make it home for Christmas… That he still got to enjoy Christmas in our home. I absolutely positively love decorating… Very few people know this about me, but my background is interior design.…Even though I chose not to pursue it professionally, after college.

I love designing and decorating my own home. The holidays to me are like an empty canvas and I get to paint with passion and love. I go all out. This year was no exception. In fact this year I went above and beyond what I have done for the last five years combined.

I put a 7 foot plus tree in our sitting room… And I decorated it with all little white lights and lots of gold, silver with angels, beautiful ribbon etc. the rest of the room was decorated the same.

I did the lights down the staircase with Garland swags and bows… In our office I did our sports Christmas tree!  Each room in the house has a different theme.

Our family room and kitchen I put our family Christmas tree… And that was decorated with the ornaments that we’ve collected over the years from our children and family ornaments. Multicolored lights on the tree & fireplace. The fireplace has the garland and the stockings

I must admit when I was all done, even though it was a lot of work, I loved it. I loved it even more when Mark walk through the door and I could see by the smile on his face, and that twinkle in his eyes how much he loved it!

As I said at the beginning of this blog my hubby is awesome. Doing things like this for him makes me happy.  He not only is an awesome husband… He is an amazing stepfather… He’s actually their dad. Peyton and my older kids all absolutely adore him.

Peyton helped me decorate the whole house… He loves the lights part,  which is so awesome for me because I get so frustrated when the light to get all tangled up! He has the patience of a saint.  😂🎄

In fact Peyton  even wrote a blog about why he loves Christmas lights so much! https://teamawesomism.com/merry-awesomism-christmas/

My hubby works very hard… He never complains… So making his Holidays a little bit better by having the house cozy, loving and festive is the least I can do. My goal was to have Mark feel ” There is no place home for the Holidays” I think I achieved that! I know he felt the love In every Christmas decoration! ❤️🎄❤️

Our Small Business Saturday

I absolutely love the idea of small business Saturday…

I think nowadays too many small businesses are being ignored… I’m still a big fan of brick and mortar, and I know I’ve been told I’m very old fashioned about that. Call me old-fashioned that’s fine I don’t care, I still enjoy going and connecting with people, being able to see the merchandise firsthand and to be honest making sure that small businesses survive and people keep jobs.

I know going to the stores in the mall‘s at this time of the year, isn’t for everyone.. but I wish more people would think about the positives to it, not just the negatives… But enough about that. I’ll cover that in a later blog ha ha…

Now to the point of this blog….. small business Saturday… We are a small business we are a proud small business! we are very socially conscious small business, we are a socially good small business. We are an Activism Small Business

One of our major products is an all natural, plant-based lemon and lavender product line… So not only is it green, and they work amazing, and smell even better… But we give 10% of every product sold back to underdog kids foundation.

Underdog kids foundation is a foundation Started by Everett Dawkins… A former FSU/NFL player… The goal of the foundation is to help the underdog, and as many of you know special-needs teens and adults are many times considered underdogs.

On our product label we talk about Autism and Anxiety Awareness, Acceptance and Activism. So every single purchase, of every single bottle not only gives back to a foundation, but we’re helping spread the word to help those that suffer from Anxiety and have Autism. This is VERY important to me.

As I’ve said over and over I have GAD and Peyton is autistic.

One of our products is a hand soap… You set the bottle on your kitchen sink, in your guest bathroom and every time somebody washes their hands, they are going to think about what they can do to help someone, and how they can be active in helping others. I’m very proud of this product line and I’m very proud of our mission statement.

We have 6 products in all… here is the link to the products…please check them out and share! Our best advertising is from those who use it and promote it by talking about it.

We also, have several other awesome products that are designed by Peyton and these too will help support Underdogkids Foundation! New Products coming every week!

Here are the links of the products he designed:

  1. Lemons Lavender Mug and Indoor Pillow
  2. Holiday Cow Blanket and Mug
  3. Lemons & Lavender Blanket & Beach Towel

Together we can and will do awesome things! Check out our website and as always we thank you so much for reading our blog and don’t forget our items make great gifts for the Holidays all while helping us spread AWARENESS ACCEPTANCE and ACTIVISM for both Anxiety and Autism!

Help us help others!

Christmas countdown

Well…… Thanksgiving is over!

So now it is officially the Christmas countdown! This time of the year there are always so many debates whether or not Christmas decorating… Christmas events…etc… basically anything Christmas.. Should happen before Thanksgiving or whether we should just focus on Thanksgiving etc. etc. I personally think that’s a personal decision for everyone to make for themselves.

I know I started decorating early this year, for multiple reasons.

Now, we meaning everyone, should agree Christmas is officially coming… So now it’s get down to the busy holiday season… Today is Black Friday… I’m not a huge black Friday Fan, I’ve never been a big shopper on Black Friday. I admit I have gone out and dealt with the craziness at the malls and in the other departments stores etc.… This year as I normally do, I passed!

My three boys all went to the stores, to find different deals. I told them if they find anything to go ahead and text me… But Mark and I chose to stay home.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, three of our four kids were home, Which was wonderful.

Peyton and I started this 45 Awesomism days of the holidays on November 18… It was stretching from that day till New Year’s Day… So today is our official start of the Christmas holiday blogs, videos, crafts, recipes, gift ideas etc. etc.… I’ve been super excited about all the people who have actually been following our 45 Awesomism days… I hope you continue with us, as we have lots of exciting things coming…

Tomorrow is small business Saturday, and we will have a special blog about small business Saturday, as not only do we support it…. but we are a small business!

We are also a socially good, social conscious business as 10% of everything that we sell from our all natural, plant-based lemon and lavender product line, goes to a foundation… Underdog kids foundation… But more about that in a later Blog.

We will also have a special blog about cyber Monday and some of our favorite online products! As well as surprise about another product line we have become the Brand Ambassador for!

We would love to hear from each of you too, for some suggestions and comments. If you would like to be featured as a guest blogger, We would love to talk to you as well…Also, if you have a small business and you’d love to be featured in a blog… please let me know! I love highlighting fellow small businesses.

We hope you continue with us on the rest of this journey through New Year’s Day… As always thanks so much for reading my blog, and we look forward to your suggestions, comments and we hope that you enjoy our 45 Awesomism days of the holidays.

Have an Awesome Day!
