Why Fall is My Favorite Season

Hi! My name is Peyton, I’m 20 years old and autistic. I’m the founder of Team Awesomism, and I’m a guest blogger of AwesomismMom, my mom’s website. Starting today, we will be putting out blogs on AwesomismMom as part of Blogtober. Are there any blog suggestions you’d like us to put out? Let us know! We’re always looking forward to people who are willing to share their blogs with us!

Soon, we’re going to be rebranding my Team Awesomism website, but we’d love to have you check it out now.

Fall is my absolute favorite season. What is yours? The reason I love the Fall/Autumn season is because it cools down to the 60s and 50s, we get to celebrate the holidays and watch football games (both pro and college football.) I always get excited when Fall is about to start, as well as football! My whole family is big football fans.

My friend Everett Dawkins played football in college and pro. He played for the Florida State Seminoles, he went to NFL and played with several teams, and then he went to Arena Football League and played for Tampa Bay Storm and Washington Valor. He is like a big brother to me! Did you know I wrote a blog about him? This may be an old one, but here’s the link on AwesomismMom if you’re interested in reading it: My Hero by Peyton

We also begin to decorate our house in the end of September, even sometimes in the middle! We decorate both inside and outside. The day after Thanksgiving , we take it all down and decorate our Christmas stuff around our house. Winter is my second favorite season!

When it gets to cool down, my mom and I take our dogs for a walk and sometimes drive around our neighborhood to look at fall and Halloween decorations, we do the same with Christmas. I love doing this!

I like summer, even though it gets too hot, especially our area in Texas. We had an intense heat wave this year, that we hardly went outside. I like Spring more than Summer, we plant our flowers and plants in our garden in the backyard, I love seeing them grow, and we even plant vegetables, which is really cool, because we get to eat them! My Uncle Jerry taught me how to plant better.

My 2 favorite holidays are Thanksgiving and Christmas. What I like about Thanksgiving is that we get to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade every year, and eat delicious food for dinner, like Turkey, mashed potatoes, casserole and some other awesome stuff. My siblings sometime get to come over for Thanksgiving dinner! I love it when my siblings come home. Thanksgiving is also a time when we reflect on what we are thankful for. I like this because it focuses on positive stuff, not negative.

Of course, Christmas is my favorite for many reasons. I find those Christmas lights really calming, we love listening to music, which is very soothing, and use our fireplace in our family room when it’s cold out.

In fact, a year ago, I even wrote a blog about why I love Christmas! Here’s the link to it: Merry Awesomism Christmas!

Oh, there’s one more thing, I like hockey, but I’m not a huge of it nor am I an NHL fan, but my mom is. She gets excited when hockey is about to start, and it is about to now. That’s one thing I don’t like about the Fall season, because she screams at the TV all the time especially when her favorite team, Chicago Blackhawks, lose.

Thanks for reading! I hope you have an amazing and busy fall season this year! Happy Autumn season!

Lemons, Lavender, Anxiety, Autism and Awesomism

I am sure by now if you follow me on social media you have seen these five words… all over my social media…Lemons, Lavender, Anxiety, Autism and Awesomism

Last week I launched in all natural, plant-based product line… Our Products are truly All Natural! no chemicals…The launch of this product line was so much bigger than just the six products we’re launching!

All six of the products that we launched smell of lemon and lavender. Lemon and lavender are proven smells that promote relaxation/are soothing…I designed this product line with Native Organics, LLC. They are an awesome all natural. plant based product line out of New Jersey. Please check out their website here! I love their products because you never have to worry about having chemicals, you don’t want or need

I am writing this blog so that I can explain my vision behind my AwesomismMom product line!

I have been blogging for several years now, and nothing makes me happier than when others reach out to me and tell me they have “learned” from my blogs! I started blogging as a labor of Love and as a way for me to work through my anxiety. I also, wanted to share our lives as an Autism Family…. I now decided I wanted to take my “activism” even further!

If you follow my blog and/or my social media accounts… You will know as I’ve shared with you, that I suffer from GAD. There are times that my General Anxiety Disorder really gets to me… I have a hard time even getting out of bed, some mornings.

It isn’t always easy to work through my anxiety… But I try, because I know I have to. I find a hot bath… Especially with a lavender candle, and lavender bath salts really helps me. Peyton loves the smell of Lavender, also. We both find it to be very soothing!

Life can be stressful full of up and downs, I’m sure you have heard of the expression.. when Life Gives you lemons make ( fill in the blank) ……We have our version on that … It is When Life Gives You Lemons make Lavender! I decided to take that expression and carry it farther!

I wanted to have a product line that was an actual “true example” of this! We all have tough times in our lives, and we all have to find a way to work through those times…the expression “when Life Gives you Lemons” is often associated with tough times. Lavender on the other hand is associated with calming, soothing etc…There have actually been Studies done that show the combination of Lemon and Lavender….improve a person’s mood and decrease stress levels both of which impact the special needs community and people with elevated stress and anxiety. This is how and why we came up with the type of products… Lemon and Lavender!

If you look at the labels on our bottles you will see that we talk about how we want those who purchase our product, to stop and think about how they can help raise Awareness,Acceptance and Activism for those in both the Autism and the Anxiety communities!

My hope is that when people are using our product line, they stop and think about how they can make a difference! Maybe it is reaching out to a friend or family member that is autistic.. and offering support.. maybe it is helping the family of an autistic child, teen or adult. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to help those in the Autism community, and I truly hope that when people use our Products.. it helps “remind” them of how together we can and will make a HUGE difference!

My hope is also that our products help bring acceptance and awareness and activism to the Anxiety community! living with any form of severe anxiety is NOT fun…and many times just a simple show of kindness and support, can make a lot of difference!

We’re proud to partner with UnderdogKids Foundation in promoting Awareness, Acceptance and Activism on their behalf. 10% of every bottle sold will go the Foundation to help Special needs families that are in need!

I hope that you have a clearer understanding of what we are trying to achieve! our goals are big… but we will never get to where we want, if we don’t start!

Thanks for reading my blog and I hope you will visit my store and help us spread the word! Also, Please check out Peyton’s Store as well! 10% of everything he sells will also go to UnderdogKids Foundation!

Peyton’s Scrambled Eggs and Fruit Spread

Peyton put this blog out on today….but I wanted to make sure I showed support and added it as my Friday Food Blog as well! please check out his website at https://teamawesomism.com/
I am so Proud of Peyton! he’s even making his own recipes and sharing them! He really is Turning Autism into Awesomism!

I love scrambled eggs in fact they were one of the first things I learned how to make by myself. When I first made them, my Mom taught me how to make scrambled eggs. I make them every once or twice a week.

Scrambled eggs are not the only breakfast food I learned how to cook, I learned how to cook fried eggs, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles and other kinds of breakfast. Scrambled eggs are one of my favorite breakfast food to cook along with pancakes.

Here are 5 steps I take for scrambled eggs:

Crack 2 large eggs in a small bowl, whisk them up until they are fully blended
Add a just a little bit of milk, whisk that into the eggs
Add a tablespoon full of sour cream, blend it all together
Add a 1/4 teaspoon of fresh garlic
Whisk everything together so that its fluffy
Cook them on the pan on the stove on medium heat for 10-12 minutes

The reason why I add sour cream to the eggs is because it makes them taste so good and creamy. Sometimes I add ham, cheese, pepper salt and other vegetables to the eggs as well. Though usually when I add cheese to the scrambled, I make them into an omelette instead.

What makes scrambled and omelette eggs different? At a later date I will share my favorite omelette recipe. I used to be scared of cooking eggs, because I was afraid that I was going to not cook them properly, but now I’m very comfortable with making them. Please make sure you cook eggs all the way through. Always check for food allergies as well.

I love having a piece of toast with my scrambled eggs. I created my own fruit spread” recipe to go on the toast:

Add 1/2 block of cream cheese
Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of manuka honey
Add 4 tablespoons of fresh fruit preserves
Add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Mix them all together

You can use any kind of fresh fruit preserve that you like, I prefer to use black currant or strawberry. Be sure to mix it all together really well. Put it in a small bowl with a lid, and store in the refrigerator. It should last about a week. It also goes well on bagels, English muffins or even biscuits.

The Glitches are Fixed!

On 19 September Peyton and I launched Team Awesomism  … Even though it was our “major launch” we knew that we were going to hit glitches. Rather than delay it any longer, and try to get everything fixed, we decided to go ahead and launch!

We can’t thank everyone enough for being so patient! And those who were able to sign up for a free email list and/or a membership thank you for trying several times!

A huge thank you and shout out to everyone who reached out to us saying that they were having trouble signing up! Even though we tried to troubleshoot it ahead of time, apparently things still happened.

I wanted  to put this blog out to make sure that everyone knows that we have fix the glitches and to go ahead and re-try and sign up! Should you have any more issues, please let us know

Also, I want to make very clear that there is a difference between the free email list… We will send occasional emails, just to kind of give you an idea of what we’re doing… We promise we won’t overload your inbox.

The membership which is a cost… Equivalent to that of a cup of coffee from Starbucks a month… Includes exclusive videos, a newsletter that will have interviews with not only team members, but awesome guests,as well as people who can really help!

Our focus for is to build a community. A community where you can share your passions, your dreams and come for strength when you’re going through a rough patch be at from stress, anxiety, bullies or just every day stresses.

It will be put to the community for help and support. We have lots of awesome  ways that we’re going to be doing this.

We have a private Twitter account set up that’s on private, only team members will be allowed on there ….where you can connect!

If you have a YouTube channel share it on there, we  will each follow each other, and support each other and share it on our other accounts!

We have an awesome Flipboard  magazine where we will share blogs, pictures, write ups, videos… all kinds of things from team members. Flipboard has 140 million readers… how awesome is it to get your stuff out?

Back to our videos for a minute, we are going to have exclusive videos from people who are professional fisherman, from golfers, from so many other walks of life that will help you find that comfort zone… Your happy place… That when you’re stressed you can go to and relax !

I think the most awesome thing about Team Awesomism is the Community! And we are so excited to have those who already joined us be a part of this awesome community!

Autistic Teenpreneur Small Business

This blog is going to be a little different than my previous blogs. I’m going to be doing a short “interview” with Peyton  in this blog . He’s the star of this blog… And when I say star I mean the star!

First let me give you a little background. Peyton graduated from high school in June of this year. He did extremely well his senior year of high school, his dad and I were very proud of him.

We sat down with him, asked him what he wanted to do this year. We wanted him to be comfortable in whatever he did. We discussed several options.

I knew he wanted to do something with computers… He’s very fascinated with coding, and has taken some amazing coding classes. He wants to learn how to do apps, as well. However; what he wanted to really do with that skill set was really awesome to me.

Rather than me tell you… Here is my short “interview” with Peyton,  you can see it in his words!

1. If you could do anything, what would it be?

Be a Teenpreneur!

I wanted  to start an online business for teens and adults, who feel like outsiders.

2. What do  you mean by outsiders?

People who don’t feel like they fit in, people who have autism, anxiety, GAD, ADHD, down syndrome and other special needs.

3. What are your goals for Team Awesomism?

I wanted it  to be a supportive community. Where people can go find friends and support, but most of all where we connect and help each other when we’re going through rough times. The one thing you won’t find in our community is bullies. We won’t tolerate bullies

4.  What was your favorite part about building the website?

That I got to design it the way I wanted, and I learned a lot by actually doing it. I also really like that it talks about the community I’m trying to build.

5.  What do you want people to really know about Team Awesomism?

That it’s a Supportive Community! That we have all kinds of member benefits. We have a private Twitter account where only members can connect, a really awesome Flipboard magazine where your blogs, pictures, write ups and so much more will be highlighted and put out to the world! I’m really excited about the Flipboard  magazine because over 140 million people read Flipboard!

I want people to know that we are a supportive community that will be there when you go through rough times. That we will have all kinds of cool videos and other learning items to help people find their comfort zone’s and/ or help them with their comfort zones.

We are going to have experts like professional fisherman teach you how to fish better, and so so much more, I don’t want to give away too many secrets or people won’t join ha ha!

We decided to only charge the price of a cup of coffee …well maybe 2 cups, but isn’t that worth it to be a part of a supportive community?

Thanks Peyton!  I know how passionate he is about making this community work! And I as his mother and just as passionate to help him make it work.

We’d love your support! Check us out at and if you’re not ready to become a member yet please feel free to sign up for free email list so we can keep in contact now and then. We promise we won’t overload your email box.

As always, thanks for reading her blog and all your support! And Go Team Awesomism https://teamawesomism.com/
