Fall destressing

A lot of people I know feel that summer is there time to unwind. They look at it is the season that they go on vacations, the days are longer, so they can go outside more, they can do more… In general the weather is better.

For me it’s very different… I find fall/autumn to be my most destressing/relaxing season of the year. There is something about the cooler temperatures… That really make me happy.

I also really love the food in the fall… I am a massive apple and cinnamon person. I love to make hot apple cider… When my kids were younger, I would always make it from scratch. I love having potpourri on the stove.. and candles in the house.

I really enjoyed baking so I love to make pies and cookies… And there’s something magical about this time of the year when you’re baking.

I also really love to make homemade soup and stews.

I always feel like this time of the year is the most cozy time of the year… It’s not hot out… And living in Texas that he can really get to you in the summer. It’s not freezing cold, where you have to worry about snow and ice like in the winter… And after a hot summer, it’s so relaxing to have a cool evening in the fall.

I also happen to be one of those people that when it’s rainy or cloudy or overcast out, I enjoy working more! I enjoy doing things around the house, I enjoy writing, listening to podcasts and music, there’s just something about it, that makes me destress more!

I also am a big hot bath taker… I’ve talked about this in prior blogs, how I love to take hot baths to relax… In the fall it’s fun to take hot baths… Even more so than in the winter, because in the winter when you get out of the bath, you get so cold quickly.

I love wearing sweaters and warm fuzzy socks… To me these are all very calming.. soothing… Destressing type things. We are all different, and we all have different things that help us with our stress and anxiety… Fall happens to be one of those for me.

Although, I wouldn’t be being totally honest… if I didn’t admit that from a sports perspective, the fall is much more stressful for me… 😂😂Because I am a huge college football, NFL and NHL fan… And since they all play in the fall… I do get a lot more stressed about my sports… But it’s a different kind of stress 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love the cool evenings.. I especially love it when it’s cool enough to put a fire in the fireplace… Of course my husband and I have completely different ideas on what is cool enough! 🤗

What are some of your favorite things about the fall? Do you find the fall to be more of a destressing time? or do you find because we’re going into the holiday season, to make it more stressful? I’d love to get your feedback on that.

Peyton also loves Fall… here is the link to his blog! Why Fall is My Favorite Season

As Always.. Thanks for reading my Blog and have an Awesome Day!

Faith it until you make it

Faith it until you make it… I saw this quote a few weeks ago… And I absolutely fell in love with it. You usually hear the term fake it until you make it. I think many of us fake it until we make it to a certain degree, when we are entrepreneurs, small business owners, pursuing our dreams etc. etc. But is that what we really want to be a faker?

The more I thought about this “Faith it until you make it” the more I loved it. The more raw and real it became to me.

I think we all have different versions of what our faith, or what faith is. This blog is not a lecture about what your faith should be by definition… But more about having that positive thoughts and conviction… To stay strong while you work to fill your dreams and passions.

I happen to be a person of faith, I believe in the power of prayer, I believe in a strong inner commitment to do what is right, not only for yourself, but for others.

This is not to say that I am always perfect. I am far from perfect… I make mistakes, I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life… But I try very hard to learn from them.

My dad always tried to teach me it was only a mistake if I didn’t learn from it… Otherwise it was a life’s lesson. I do truly try to learn from my mistakes. So let’s just say I have lots and lots of life’s lessons. 😂

I think nowadays, we have developed an attitude of what we want, we better have and we better have it NOW! There are times, I must admit, that I can become very disheartened with the way that we have become in society in general.

Too often I don’t see people actually caring about other people, I see them talking about what they do ….what they have… how great they are.. basically faking it till they make it.

This is not to say that we should do the opposite, which is always complain… And do a “poor me” attitude, either.

Life in general can be really tough… Being a small business/entrepreneur/independent contractor can make it even tougher.

Having other issues in your life such as.. being a single parent… A child with special needs… Serious financial difficulties etc. etc. can also make being positive, a little more difficult at times.

This is why I love that saying… Faith it till you make it… Because I think when things are really rough, we have to lean on our faith! We need to reach down deep inside of us and find that Faith… Be it Faith in a higher being.. Faith in ourselves or Both!

The Definition of Faith is: ( from Oxford)

faith
1.
complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
“this restores one’s faith in politicians”
2.
strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

I have made this my personal new motto…meaning when tough times come… and they always do…especially being a Mompreneur/Entrepreneur and Autism Mom… I am going to challenge myself… Faith it until I make it! Will you accept this challenge too?

Thanks for reading my blog

Have an Awesome Day!

It’s here!! Blogtober

Welcome welcome to Blogtober! I and many other bloggers have made a commitment to try… Keyword there TRY… To blog every single day, during the month of October! I’m actually looking forward to this, as it is a nice challenge… And it really allows me to get back into the mood of blogging.

I have to admit I’ve been kind of out of the mood to blog, not really sure why 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just haven’t had the desire or the energy to blog. So this is a great challenge, because I think it will get me back to where I was before and that is Writing blogs at least a couple times a week.

My first blog that I put out yesterday, was a guest blog from my awesome 20-year-old autistic son. He wrote a great blog about why he loves fall… Actually, fall/autumn is the favorite season in our house.

Until October 31 I am going to try to write and put out a different blog each and every day… Like I said I’m not positive I will be able to but I promise I will try.

My theme for the month is going to be “when life gives you lemons turn it into lavender.” Which if you follow me on social media at all, or look at my website you know that this is something that I have started to make as my main motto.

There’s a lot more to it than just turning Lemons into Lavender… It’s about taking Situation/life events that happen to us every day, and finding the positive in them.

This goes along with my four year theme for my blog/website of “Turning Autism into Awesomism!”

Life can be really tough at times, for everyone. It can be especially tough for those in the autism community, as well as those who suffer from anxiety. Peyton has autism, I have GAD aka General Anxiety Disorder.

There are days it is actually hard for me to even get out of bed, because of my anxiety….. but I do…. because staying in bed isn’t going to Fix issues that are bothering me… That’s not to say that I don’t take naps… lay down…. relax… it just means I can’t turn the world off.

I know this is how Peyton feels as well, because he and I have discussed it many times. I hope you follow our month-long blog journey where we share with you how we take “Life’s Lemons and turn them into Lavender“ and how we are also using those situations, to help turn Autism and Anxiety into Awesomism!

Please check out my website, as I have an all natural plant-based lemon and lavender product line where the mission of the product line is to raise Awareness, Acceptance and Activism for Autism and Anxiety. More about this in future blogs!

Also, please check out Peyton‘s website… I’m so proud of him that he is an entrepreneur!

As always,

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your comments and your thoughts…. as we journey on this next month of Blogtober!

Autistic Teenpreneur Small Business

This blog is going to be a little different than my previous blogs. I’m going to be doing a short “interview” with Peyton  in this blog . He’s the star of this blog… And when I say star I mean the star!

First let me give you a little background. Peyton graduated from high school in June of this year. He did extremely well his senior year of high school, his dad and I were very proud of him.

We sat down with him, asked him what he wanted to do this year. We wanted him to be comfortable in whatever he did. We discussed several options.

I knew he wanted to do something with computers… He’s very fascinated with coding, and has taken some amazing coding classes. He wants to learn how to do apps, as well. However; what he wanted to really do with that skill set was really awesome to me.

Rather than me tell you… Here is my short “interview” with Peyton,  you can see it in his words!

1. If you could do anything, what would it be?

Be a Teenpreneur!

I wanted  to start an online business for teens and adults, who feel like outsiders.

2. What do  you mean by outsiders?

People who don’t feel like they fit in, people who have autism, anxiety, GAD, ADHD, down syndrome and other special needs.

3. What are your goals for Team Awesomism?

I wanted it  to be a supportive community. Where people can go find friends and support, but most of all where we connect and help each other when we’re going through rough times. The one thing you won’t find in our community is bullies. We won’t tolerate bullies

4.  What was your favorite part about building the website?

That I got to design it the way I wanted, and I learned a lot by actually doing it. I also really like that it talks about the community I’m trying to build.

5.  What do you want people to really know about Team Awesomism?

That it’s a Supportive Community! That we have all kinds of member benefits. We have a private Twitter account where only members can connect, a really awesome Flipboard magazine where your blogs, pictures, write ups and so much more will be highlighted and put out to the world! I’m really excited about the Flipboard  magazine because over 140 million people read Flipboard!

I want people to know that we are a supportive community that will be there when you go through rough times. That we will have all kinds of cool videos and other learning items to help people find their comfort zone’s and/ or help them with their comfort zones.

We are going to have experts like professional fisherman teach you how to fish better, and so so much more, I don’t want to give away too many secrets or people won’t join ha ha!

We decided to only charge the price of a cup of coffee …well maybe 2 cups, but isn’t that worth it to be a part of a supportive community?

Thanks Peyton!  I know how passionate he is about making this community work! And I as his mother and just as passionate to help him make it work.

We’d love your support! Check us out at and if you’re not ready to become a member yet please feel free to sign up for free email list so we can keep in contact now and then. We promise we won’t overload your email box.

As always, thanks for reading her blog and all your support! And Go Team Awesomism https://teamawesomism.com/

We Love Patti and Ricky and you will too!

A while back I came across a twitter account called Patti and Ricky. Here is their description from their twitter and website “PATTI + RICKY is an online shopping experience that offers stylish and functional designer products for individuals with disAbilities.” I was immediately interested in learning more about them. I looked at their website and was really impressed. You know how we hear the expression “find a need and fill it” Alex did this.. she did it in an awesome way. Her products fill needs in the special needs communities, but in a unique and positive way. I retweeted her and she immediately thanked me. Her thanks went a long way with me. It showed me how passionate she was about her business. Alex and I connected on DM and then on the phone. I was so impressed with her passion, excitement and knowledge. Her goals are from her heart, and I knew I wanted to work with her.

We decided on the call, that we were going to find a way to “work together” I explained to her that before I “endorse” any product I have to try them. I also let her know that if I don’t like items I will say so. Alex not only understood, but agreed with me. She asked what products from her site Peyton and I would be interested in trying. I told her I’d leave that up to her. She asked me a few questions and figured out what products to send to us! A couple of weeks later a box arrived! Peyton and I were super excited to see what we received. In the box were the following items: Lavender roller, Headache roller, Willpower roller and Calm Spray, all made by Open Heart Apothecary! The box also included a beautiful pink crystal heart! I love all the products and can honestly say they work very well, but this isn’t just about me… so the next paragraph has been written by Peyton on what he thinks of the products!

My mom asked me to write an honest review of products we got from Patti and Ricky. Here is my review:

We use Calm spray which has 100% pure lavender oil, sweet orange, frankincense and Roman chamomile, on my pillow to relax me at night. Like the spray, the lavender roller has 100% oil of lavender and jojoba oil, I love both of them.
Couple weeks ago, I had a bad cold for a while, I had a stuffy nose, a sore throat and I was coughing in which I couldn’t sleep well at night because my nose was stuffed up and I was coughing. The best way for me to get rid of the head cold was to sleep a lot. I to slept with my comfort blanket that I just got from a company called Cmfrt,  and I sat on my Human Touch massage chair, both of them helped me sleep better . My mom used the calm spray on my pillow and lavender roller on my wrists, temples and under my nose, it really worked, it relaxed me!
I will keep using calm and lavender on me until they’re gone, because I don’t always sleep well! The one day I had a bad headache from my cold and I didn’t feel good, so I used the headache roller and the willpower one. The headache one has peppermint, clary, sage, lavender with jojoba oil, grape seed and apricot kernel oils, all are 100% pure! The Willpower has grapefruit, fennel and Roman Chamomile in jojoba oil, all 100% natural.  I only do natural, so it was great having these, because they really helped! I hope everyone tries their products because we really love them!

Peyton and I are big fans of Patti and Ricky and we truly hope you will be too! Here’s their website. Please check it out! Support a great small business and a great cause. Peyton and I want to thank you for reading our blog
